Today’s Post by Blue Moon Staff
I always think that it’s a good idea to mix fun and sexiness with an intimate portrait session. And as you can see in today’s featured portrait our client is having fun. One of the key ingredients for both that and this session was sexiness and one that is totally optional with any model—nudity.
When it comes to what to wear or not wear during a glamour or boudoir session, ever model has different comfort levels and what may be too revealing for one person is different for another, so ultimately the decision about what to wear for the portrait is up to them.
There are many ways to portray sensuality in a portrait, sometimes with nudity, partial nudity or no nudity. Much depends on the client and her pose, including the use of implied nudity where the subject is actually nude, as in the above image, but because of the pose (and in this case props) and where she places her hands is not fully naked .
And you can bring an elements of fun into a boudoir session as today’s photograph illustrates, while it includes sexiness and hints at nudity, all without being a truly nude photograph. Yes, fun and sexiness can co-exist in the same intimate portrait. That’s why even before any photographs are even made we talk with our clients about what their goals are what how to accomplish them during a portrait session .
How I made this portrait
The above portrait of Kim was made for the model’s portfolio. It was shot in the dining room of my former home using available light coming through the window in the back door with a 32-inch 5-in-1 collapsible reflector at camera left serving as fill. The camera used was a Canon EOS 50D and EF 28–105mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens (at 53mm) and was shot with a exposure of 1/125 sec at f/5 and ISO 1000, with a minus two-thirds stop exposure compensation (for some reason.)
