Today’s Post by Blue Moon Staff

A wile ago, I had a pre-shoot interview with a model and we discussed concepts for a test shoot. While we were talking she also asked us about doing “a sexy friend shoot” with her and a female friend before that person moved out of town. She seemed shy asking about the details until I assured her that more than a few women, of all age groups, are interested in this kind of intimate portrait. For reasons I still don’t understand, we never got to do either of the shoots but I liked the concept and wanted to give it a try, even though I knew it would be a challenge for several reasons…

The biggest challenge for the photographer to ensure that both subjects look their absolute best at the same time in the same frame, we are always up to a challenge and are looking forward to photographing them soon.

Because this kind of session offers it’s own creative and logistical challenges, I always offer a no-cost, pre-shoot consultation to help me understand the kinds of images the two friends are interested in creating. Having a consultation is ultimately the client’s decision or I suggest that we just get together in the studio shoot, as was the case of the two women in the featured portrait. And in case you wondered here at Blue Moon we are open and accepting of all lifestyles including LGBTIQA+.

How I made the photo: I photographed Kelly and Erin with an Olympus Pen F with an Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R kit lens at 41mm. Exposure was 1/125 sec at f/11 and ISO 400, shooting in RAW+JPEG mode. Lighting was provided by two Paul C Buff DigiBee DB 800‘s and one Alien Bees B800 monolight. The background was a hand painted Carbonite muslin from Silverlake Photo Accessories that was suspended from JTL background stands. The image was retouched and the Glamour Glow filter from Color Efex was added to soften the image and add a slightly warm glow to the portrait

If any models would like to have a sexy shoot with your female friend, please contact us by using the Contact tab above and let’s schedule a shoot.
