Today’s Post by Blue Moon Staff
“I love being naked. I’m a free spirit.”—Alessandra Torresani
I don’t want any of my client’s portraits to look the same as our other clients. After all, the session is all about the model and should look different, even for what we may have done with one of your model friends. That’s why I take the time to get to know you and work with you to visualize your fantasy, your dream or just something you’ve always wanted to try.
Let’s take today’s featured example: One of my other favorite posing sequences is to have the client gradually remove or just move bits and pieces of what they are wearing until they are comfortable with their nudity or something in between. Our clients tell us they like the playful nature of this kind of posing technique but it’s all up to you and your comfort level—you get to make these kinds of decisions before and during any photo session.
I have written before about the financial possibilities for women to take control of their life and have what has been called, these days, a “side hustle”*. This mature woman has a full-time job but is also a nude internet model, so for her the ultimate end of this posing sequence was for be her completely nude, although in the featured image a bit of her original outfit/costume/bustier remains. The important thing for me and the client is that they knows when to stop removing or moving what she’s wearing and all this is all discussed between us beforehand.
How I Made this Portrait
Today’s image is from the second portrait session that I had with Maria cedar. She’s standing alongside the french doors that open into my home’s guest bedroom with lighting provided by two 320 Watt-second monolights. The camera position is on the loft area that’s just outside the bedroom. One of the monolights was located on the loft directly behind my camera position mounted with a Paul C Buff white 51-inch PLM umbrella. A second monolight with a standard reflector attached was placed inside the guest room, behind Maria and at camera left giving her just the touch of a rim light.
The camera used was a Panasonic Lumix GH4 with a Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 lens at 45mm. The original exposure was 1/125 sec at f/7.1 and ISO 200. That turned out to be slightly underexposed. I changed that in later shots to 1/100 sec at f/10 and ISO 200 but as Murphy’s Law often states, “…but I liked her pose and expression on this shot.” My normal regime of retouching and enhancement tools was used to complete the images.
Here’s a book nude photography that should be in everybody’s bookshelf:
