Today’s Post by Blue Moon Staff

The body is meant to be seen, not all covered up.—Marilyn Monroe

Making boudoir images outdoors mean you’re going to have to be creative about where and when you shoot but the results, as can be seen in today’s featured image, can be unique and something different.

One of the positive aspects of shooting outdoor portraiture—including intimate portraits such the one at right—is that there’s always something for the subject to interact with.

The other thing needed is an interesting  background, like the featured portrait, that was shot near Phoenix AZ, and produced a wholesome, yet sexy outdoorsy effect.

Sometimes the location and the subject’s clothing—or lack thereof—dictates a pose, as was the case here. That’s why during a shoot, we let the client see what the images look like on the camera’s LCD screen so you can understand the kind on images that are being captured. If you don’t like what you see, we’ll try something else; if you like what you see, we’ll work on improving the portrait until it’s the best and you’re at your most beautiful.

How I Made this Portrait: Over the years I have been blessed to photograph some amazingly wonderful and beautiful models, such as Tomiko who I photographed in Phoenix, Arizona. For this image, I’m using my basic flash technique for side lighting, although the effect here is more subtle. Exposure with a Canon EOS 60D and EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 lens (at 55mm) with 550EX speedlight used for fill was 1/125 sec at f/5.6 and ISO 200.
